Mountain is the first single off of our new EP "Mayday" that will be out 5.5.2021.
lyrics
On the Mountain where they burned the mattress where we slept
Smoke signals of what we could have had are all that's left
In the valley where they took the babies as they wept
Mothers round the world, all they could do is hold their breath
Passing time, it has not taught us, all it does is blind us
Eyes wide open, now's the time to leave this all behind us
Running scared and dying there is starting to affect
those who pulled the trigger not to serve and to protect
Eyes wide shut and mouth stuck open, you're a certain threat
Listen loud and love the neighbor that you have not met
If we know we all are part of systems that confine us
Break them down and teach our children, time will not define us
Time will, time will, time will, time will not
On the Mountain where they burned the mattress where we slept
Smoke signals of what we could have had are all that's left
On the wind the answer blows, in fits and starts, a storm
Ever worse the damage is if we don't learn to stop.

There is a lot to hear here and unsurprisingly it's a mixed bag, but Passing Strange's stunning arrangement of "Tourniquet" blows me away. They make it sound like it was ALWAYS a piano ballad, and their contribution was to rock it up with lively drums. summer villain
